Eid al-Mubahila … Day of victory of Islam

Eid al-Mubahila … Day of victory of Islam

But whoever disputes with you in this matter after what has come to you of knowledge, then say: come let us call our sons and your sons and our women and your women and ourselves and yourselves, and then let us invoke the curse of God on the liars." (3:61)

This Quranic verse refers to the famous event of ' Mubahila ' which took place in the year 10 A.H. against the Christians of Najran.

A deputation of 60 Christians of Najran headed by Abdul Masih their chief monk priest came and discussed with the Holy Prophet (S) the personality of Prophet Jesus (A). The Holy Prophet (S) told them not to deify Jesus for he was only a mortal created by God, and not God Himself. Then they asked who the father of Jesus was. By this, they thought that since he was born without a father the Holy Prophet (S) would helplessly accept Jesus' father being God himself. In reply to this question was revealed the Verse:

“Verily, similitude of Jesus with God is as the similitude of Adam; He created him out of dust then said He unto him BE, and he became.”

When the Christians did not agree to this line of reasoning, the top-mentioned verse was revealed enjoining upon the Holy Prophet (S) to call the Christians to Mubahila. To this the Christians agreed. They wanted to return to their place and would have the Mubahila the next day.

Early next morning the Holy Prophet (S) sent Salman al-Farsi (R) to the open place that was fixed outside the city for the historic event to erect a small shelter for himself and those he intended to take along with him for the contest.

At the appointed hour, the Christians witnessed the Holy Prophet (S) entering the field with Imam Hussain (A) in his lap, Imam Hasan (A) holding his finger, and walking beside him Lady Fatima (A) and followed by Imam Ali al-Murtada (A). The Holy Prophet (S) on reaching the appointed spot stationed himself with his daughter, her two sons and her husband, raising his hands towards the heaven said:

“Lord these are the People of my House.”

The Chief Monk on knowing that the baby in the lap of the Holy Prophet (S) was his young grandson Imam Hussain (A), the child walking holding the Prophet (S)’s hand was his first grandson Imam Hasan (A), the Lady behind him was daughter his only surviving issue was Fatima (A) the mother of the two children, and the one who followed the Lady was his son in law the husband of Fatima (A), addressed the huge crowd of the people who had gathered on the spot, and addressed them saying:

“By God, I see the faces which, if they pray to God for mountains to move from their places, the mountains will immediately move!

O believers in the Jesus of Nazareth, I will tell you the truth that should ye fail to enter into some agreement with Muhammad (S) and if these souls whom Muhammad (S) has brought with him, curse you, ye will be wiped out of existence to the last day of the life of the earth!”

The people readily agreed to the advice counseled by their Leader. They beseeched the Holy Prophet (S) to give up the idea of the agreed Mubahila and requested for themselves to be allowed to continue their faith, offering to pay ' Jizya'.

Abdullah Shah Ghazi

Abdullah Shah Ghazi (Arabic: عبد الله شاه غازى‎ ) is considered to be patron saint of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. The dargah of Abdullah Shah Ghazi is located in Clifton[1] neighbourhood of Saddar Town in Karachi.

History

Abdullah Shah Ghazi was the great grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. He is son of Muhammad (Nafsul Zakia) bin Abdullah bin Hasan Saani bin Hasan Ibne Ali Ibne Abu Talib[citation needed], making him a member of the Ahl al-Bayt.

His father Muhammad Nafsul Zakia along with his brother (Ibrahim Nafsul Razia) run a major campaign against Abdullah Jaffar Al-mansoor (ruled 754 AD to 775 AD), who was the second caliph of abbasids. Imama Muhammad Nafsul Zakia failed in this attempt and martyred so Abdullah Shah Ghazi came to Sindh and starting the teachings of Islam. After some time the army of Abbasids found him and he was martyred in a battle. His brother, Misry Shah, who is also buried along the coastline in Karachi, is also remembered as a saint.

My Heart Hurts!

Submitted by Anonymous

When I go to Medina
And see the grand mosque of Rasullullah,
My heart fills with joy!
My heart fills with joy to see the grandeur
My heart fills with joy to see the beauty
My heart fills with joy to see the reverence
My heart fills with joy to see the ummah!

But then, I look across the grand mosque of Rasullullah
And see the Jannatul Baqi,
My heart hurts!
My heart hurts to see the only daughter of Rasullullah
in a place that is destroyed and locked
My heart hurts to see the son of Rasullullah
in a place without a shelter or a dome
My heart hurts to see the grandson of Rasullullah
in a place not accessible to his friends
My heart hurts to see the great-grandsons of Rasullullah
in a place secluded from the mosque!

My heart complains!
My heart complains about the injustices
done to Sayyada Zahra
My heart complains about the treachery
done to Imam Hasan
My heart complains about the disrespect
shown to my Imams
My heart complains about the restrictions
put upon their friends!

When I go to Medina
And see the grand mosque of Rasullullah,
My heart fills with joy!
My heart hurts!

My heart complains!

Surah Kausar

Neighbors First

The child had made it a habit to rise regularly in the small hours of the night and join his mother in her nightly prayers called Tahajjud. He observed that his mother prayed for all Muslim men and women. She remembered them by name and prayer for their prosperity and well being.

O Allah, pardon them their sins and let Your grace embrace them in all their dealings.

On this particular morning, he decided to ask. When the prayers were over, he asked:

Mother, you pray for all every day. Not a word for yourself or any one in the family?

Bibi Fatima, blessings and salutations to her, said: 'O Hasan, remember one thing. Neighbors first and then the house.'

Dua'a for Istikhara

DUA'A 4 If you want to seek divine favour and guidance before doing or undertaking any work there are a few procedures, given in the following dua'a as known as istikharah.

Shaykh al Tusi has advised the seeker of istikhara to have a bath pray a 2 rakat salat and after the salam go into sajdah and recite 3 times :

ASTAKHEERULLAAHA FEE JAMEE-I UMOOREE KULLIHAA KHIYARATAN FEE AA'AFIYATIN

After reciting the du-a'a do what you feel just and suitable.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DUA'A 5 : It is reported that Imam Sahib al Zaman has advised the believers to seek istikhara as under :

(i) keep in mind the task with the intention of doing it.

(ii) recite salawat 3 tinmes.

ALLAAHUMMA S'ALLI A'LAA MUH'AMMADIN WA AALI MUHA'AMMAD

(iii) hold a rosary(trasbih) at any place in your left hand anf from there with the right hand, start moving two beads at a time. If only one bead remains in the end do what you want to do and if two beads are left do not do it. Doing or not doing is optional not compulsory.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DUA'A 7 We give below the method of istikhara recommended by Imam Jafar bin Muhammad as Sadiq :

Perform Wudu (ablution) or after praying any salat, sit facing qiblah and recite :

(i)Al Fatihaha (Once)

(ii) Al Ikhlas (3 times)

(iii) Salawat (15 times)

(iv) Recite the following dua :

ALLAAHUMMA INNE AS-ALUKA BIH'AQQIL H'USAYNI WA JADDIHEE WA ABEEHI WA AKHEEHI WA UMMIHEE WAL A-IMMATI MIN D'URRIYYATIHEE AN TUS'ALLIYA A'LAA MUH'AMMADIN WA AALI MUH'AMMADIN WA AN TAJ-A'LA LIYAL KHIYARATA FEE HADD'IHIS SABH'ATI WA AN TURIYANEE MAA HUWAL ASLAH'U LEE FEE DEENEE WA DUNYAAYA ALLAAHUMMA IN KAANA AS'LAH'U FEE DEENEE WA DUNYAAYA FI-A'LA MAA ANAA A'AZIMUN A'LAYHI FAAMURNEE WA ILLAA FANHANEE INNAKA A'LAA KULLI SHAY-IN QADEER.

(v) now hold the rosary in your left hand at any place and start moving one bead at a time with your right hand and say

SUBH'AANALLAAH, ALH'AMDULILLAH, LA ILAAHA ILLALLAAH on three heads one by one, continue it till you reach the end. If the last bead ends with SUBH'AANALLAAH it means 'neither good nor bad". If it ends with ALH'AAMDULILLAAH IT MEANS GOOD. And if it ends with LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAAH it means do not do it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DUA'A 8 Given below is the method of seeking istikhara from the Holy Quran recommended by the Propher
